The Minnesota Zoo is located in Apple Valley, a southern suburb of the Twin Cities, just 10 minutes south of Mall of America.
As you drive in you will find our friendly parking attendants who will ask you for $5 and direct you into the parking lots adjacent to the Zoo entrance. At the outdoor ticket booths there are staff who will take care of will call, guest lists & ticket sales or whatever your needs call for.
Starting in 2011, we will be using an outdoor entrance and ticket booths. You will not be going into the buildings and it is about a 1/3 mile outdoor walk to the Amphitheater. On your way to the Amphitheater, you can get some food or beverages at the Tiger Treats food stand. For food there’s stacker sandwiches, pizza, pretzels, hot dogs, etc. For beverages, you can get cold Summit Beer, wine, soft drinks & such.
At the security checkpoint, your purses & bags will be searched just before your tickets are taken. There are no outside drinks or food allowed. Camera without removable lens are allowed, but no video cameras. All the Zoo shows are rain or shine. However, umbrellas are not allowed so bring ponchos & raincoats instead. There is no smoking in the amphitheater but there is an area provided for smokers to indulge past the restrooms located at the top of the amphitheater.
As you enter the concert bowl, there are many helpful concert ushers ready to show you to your seat. If you have an SRO (standing room only) pass, you will find many places to view the concert from behind the line on top & along the sides. Most of the time, the shows are dance friendly. Dancers are many times allowed down in front of the band in the orchestra pit area. The VIP boxes along the top of the bowl are comfortable & also have great sight-lines.
Shows with opening bands begin promptly at 7:30pm with headliners playing 90 or 120 minute shows. “An Evening with…” shows start right at 7:30pm & have a half hour break between sets. All shows will conclude at the 10:30pm curfew.
