FRIDAY: Sonny Knight & The Lakers
In the mid-sixties Minneapolis-based Sonny Knight released his first record, “Tears On My Pillow”. During the ’70s, Sonny sang in the Minneapolis based cult-classic R&B band, Haze. In late 2012 Secret Stash Records released Twin Cities Funk & Soul, a collection of lost R&B music recorded in Minnesota during the ’60s and ’70s. The smash hit compilation spawned a live soul revue comprised entirely of music and musicians featured on the record. As one of the featured singers of the show, Sonny is also going solo. Along with his backing band, The Lakers, Knight delivers an authentic, powerful brand of soul music and level of showmanship that give him his own room to groove and is sure to delight.

SATURDAY: Teammates | Bollywood | Champion Sleeper [Facebook RSVP]
“There’s no ‘i’ in Teammates. The four guys that make up the Minneapolis experimental rock band teamed together in 2010, and went through a few iterations before landing on their current name and sound. Now, they’re set to release their debut EP, recorded on the third floor of the Soap Factory. The album, Art Thief, is gorgeously odd, light and thin, like a supermodel. Understated as they come, the album pulses ahead with bursts of color and light.” [City Pages]
“[Bollywood] plays scuzzy gutter-electro that is waist-deep in seedy underbelly vibes and hazy detachment.” [Reviler]
“… As though they wrote this looking through a black and white kaleidoscope on PCP.” [Head Underwater]
