TUESDAY: Neulore

Nashville “modern folk” band Neulore kicks off the new year with its first headlining tour. The core duo of frontman Adam Agin and guitarist William T. Cook has inked a deal with a Universal subsidiary and had a track featured on “Grey’s Anatomy.” While there’s still no release date for their Animal Evolve LP, lead single “Shadow of a Man” has a Mumford-meets-Kings-of-Leon vibe. WEDNESDAY: Cosmonot | Air Taiwan | Jeromy Darling

Ever have a hankering for new alternative rock that sounds like it was forged in the mid-90s? Cosmonot is your fix for catchy melodies, power chords and dirty guitar solos. Their primary goal is take you on a journey that showcases the (near) future of rock, but if you begin having memories of that junior high dance when you accidentally threw up on Lisa, that’s okay, too. Founded in 2010 by Alex Smith as a solo project to pass time in college, Cosmonot finally played its first live show in June 2012. Their debut album, To the Sky, received international attention thanks to the success of “Loserhead,” a pop-rock gem that was picked up by Indie/Rock Playlist. The band recently released a new music video for “Loserhead,” as well as a new single — “Turn Me Off” — in early December 2013.

Super pop-duo Air Taiwan has been scorching the Twin Cities music scene, like a brush-fire, since late 2012 – delivering songs that are thoughtful, fun and addictively-catchy. Air Taiwan makes delightfully-simple use of piano, guitar and kick drum, along with bells and even synthesizers, to create a completely unique live sound.

THURSDAY: The Jelly Project | The Strange Heroes

The Jelly Project has been able to carve out its own niche in very little time and claim a serious piece of the indie scene. This is in part because there is no other band really making and saying the things they seem to relish. Their debut album Ugly Dirty is a head buzzing foreigh into the heavy blues. While their canvas is primarily classic rock, there seems to be the promise modern innovation bubbling up.

SATURDAY: Betty Who

Betty Who blends indie and pop music into an irresistible mix of bold soundscapes, Top 40 hooks, and knowing lyrics. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, she played cello by age four and began writing her first pop songs in her early teens. Her voice is striking and memorable, and, according to Billboard, “shimmers with a self-assuredness extremely uncommon in an unsigned artist.”
