Tuesday: Alex Proctor’s 30th Birthday Shindig ft. Solid Gold | The Cloak Ox | Invisible Boy

Solid Gold: Solid Gold’s album, Eat Your Young, is a slow-burning set of skittish synths, glassy beats, ripple effect riffs, and melancholic melodies that leave you wondering what left a trail of scar tissue deep within the group’s core trio (frontman Zack Coulter and multi-instrumentalists Matthew Locher and Adam Hurlburt).

The Cloak Ox: The Cloak Ox is made of four staunch music-making Midwestern men. They are Andrew Broder, Jeremy Ylvisaker, Mark Erickson and Martin Dosh. These four returned to rock and roll, and they play it very, very well. Sometimes it’s loud and sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes it’s funky and sometimes it’s gentle. Sometimes they spazz the fuck out and sometimes they boogie.

Invisible Boy: Best known for his bass playing in internationally acclaimed band Poliça, Chris Bierden has also recorded and toured with acts like Har Mar Superstar, Bones and Beaker, and Vampire Hands. His ongoing project, Invisible Boy, is an introspective take on 1960s pop and 1970s loner-ism.
