Wednesday: Saint Vitus

Saint Vitus are said to be the godfathers of American Doom Metal. A statement weighing as heavy as this band sounds. In summer 2013, Season of Mist released reissues of the VITUS milestones, C.O.D. and Die Healing, which gave all the fans the band had gained on their recent world tours a chance to discover these two overlooked classics. The Skull and Witch Mountain support, plus very special readings from Nathan Carson (of Witch Mountain) and MP Johnson (Local Author and Metal Aficionado) in the Clown Lounge.

Thursday: Quintron & Miss Pussycat

The Quintron and Miss Pussycat live show is one of barely controlled electronic chaos, “Swamp-Tech” dance beats, small explosions, clothes, and entertaining puppet stories. Quintron has been making genre-defying noise and “Swamp-Tech” dance music in New Orleans for over fifteen years. The majority of his ten full-length albums have the psychedelic soul of New Orleans garage R&B filtered through a tough distorted Hammond B-3 and a cache of self-made electronic instruments. Miss Pussycat, otherwise known as Panacea Theriac, is a New Orleans based puppeteer. Born in Antlers, Oklahoma, she began learning puppetry at the Christian Puppet Youth Ministry at the First Baptist Church of Antlers. For the past fifteen years she has traveled internationally conducting puppet shows in rock clubs and at international festivals.

Friday: Rasputina

Pioneers in the use of cello as the sole instrument within a rock band, Rasputina has been inspiring young string players to commit a number of musical sins since 1996. The group’s concept was written as a manifesto, and manifested accordingly by directress Melora Creager as a wily subterfuge for a plot to open audiences to adventure.

Saturday: The Late Late Breakfast (daytime show)

The 10,000 Laughs Comedy Festival presents The Late Late Breakfast – A Comedy Brunch Game Show. Hungover comedians roll out of bed and face a system of randomized comedy games that could make or break their set. It’s comedy in the daytime, without all that annoying sunshine. Hosted by lovable scamps Tyler Jackson and Danny Maupin. The best part of this breakfast? The show is FREE, along with some fresh hot pancake! (21+ | No Cover)

Saturday: White Fang | No Parents (evening show)

The dudes of White Fang are mainstays of their hometown’s newfound merrymaking. They share members with likeminded outfit The Memories one of whom is Rikky, also known as Free Weed. Over the years the Portland punk group has collectively shifted from rougher cuts to a lighter, more easygoing template, but they’ve been proponents of a freewheeling, devil-may-care attitude all along. No Parents are a Los Angeles punk band that play rock and roll music and they play it well. Oh fuck yes they do.

Sunday: World’s Most Dangerous Brunch

The World’s Most Dangerous Brunch returns to the Turf Club, featuring music from the World’s Most Dangerous Polka Band, Polish brunch items on special, and sausages from Minneapolis landmark Kramarczuk’s. The Turf Club opens for brunch at 10:00am. (All Ages event | No Cover)

Sunday: Tommy Keene | The Leatherwoods

Eleven full-lengths, four EPs, three compilations and one live album into the game, Tommy Keene is in the midst of a creative roll that, in the space of just six years, has yielded four studio albums — five, if you count 2010 career overview Tommy Keene You Hear Me: A Retrospective 1983-2009. The rock savant’s new offering, Laugh in the Dark, is the latest in a fruitful partnership with North Carolina’s Second Motion Records label. The Leatherwoods were a loose duo comprised of Kansas-to-Minneapolis transplants Todd Newman and Tim O’Reagan, with assistance from utility man “Pablo Louseorama” (aka Paul Westerberg, who co-wrote two songs while contributing guitar, bass and keyboards).
