Tastemaker Picks: Mina Moore

Every Thursday, we ask a local tastemaker to pick a couple of upcoming shows they’re excited about. This week, Mina Moore (8/7 in the Mainroom with Corinne Bailey Rae) tells us about 3 shows she’s looking forward to:

Eric Andre is in the Mainroom on September 10, and I will absolutely be there. Our band constantly watches his show on the road, exponentially increasing the number of times the van stops before someone pees their pants.

I started listening to The Specials in high school while writing a choose-your-own-topic research paper on the waves of ska music (yep, I was that kid). 30 years later, ska, punk, reggae, and the 1970s UK political turmoil still resonated with a 14-year-old Black kid in a white suburb. Even without John Bradbury, September 17 in the Mainroom will be a night of heroes.

Danny Brown won my heart when he kicked it with Eddie Hoang on his Viceland series, “Hoang’s World.” This dude is as real as it gets (that hair cut, man), and every bit of that realness will come thru in the Mainroom on September 25.
