Young Greatness

Young Greatness, born Theodore Jones began his rap career little over a decade ago. When his father passed in early 2000 Young Greatness found himself at a crossroad. Would he take the wrong path and tackle life on the streets and become a statistic or would he aim to secure a better life for his family. It was while pondering this that Young Greatness felt the music industry beckoning.

Eager to make a name for himself in Hip-Hop the youngster spent countless hours in the studio writing and perfecting his raps, also intent on making a lasting impression. Like many young MCs this New Orleans native was heavily influenced by the presence of Jay – Z and it wasn’t very long before the young boy from the St. Bernard Housing projects was recognized by his peers for his mic skills and the soul he put into his rhymes.

After the catastrophic Hurricane Katrina brought New Orleans to its knees a move to Houston was on the cards for Young Greatness. It was here that he and friends pooled money to secure studio time, which in turn brought him to the attention of Houston legends, Bun B and Mike Jones. Soon after, Young Greatness caught the attention of The Bomb Squad (Michael Jackson, Will Smith, Jay – Z) due to his unrivaled work ethic and his undisputed dedication.

Teaming up with DJ Infamous for his mixtape Trap Jumpin 2.0 that was well received by both the industry and the legions of fans that Young Greatness has secured for himself over the years. Artistic diversity is rare in Hip-Hop these days, but Young Greatness tackled it head on with this 14-track offering. The result was not only the 24,000 plus downloads the project achieved but also the recognition from multiple labels. Verging on being the industry force he dreamed of not that long ago, Young Greatness is on his way to making his name a permanent addition on the Hip-Hop timeline.

Now as he embarks on the release of his latest single, “Rollie” feat. Meek Mill Young Greatness hopes to win the media over with his lyrical tenacity. Living by the mantra that ‘no matter what comes your way, with a little perseverance, any goal can be reached,’ this bourgeoning wordsmith is rapidly making his way through the ranks.
