X-ertion

X-ertion is a student-organized dance club at Macalester College created to serve students who are interested in the popular dance cultures of Asian Nations. Formerly known as Team Asia, the dance initiative had been around for a couple of years before Team Asia was finally chartered as an official student organization in Fall 2011. We aim to provide a friendly and supportive environment where students with different dancing experiences can come together without strict auditions to have fun with exploring dance, developing creativity, and enjoying popular or traditional Asian music.

In Fall 2017, the name was changed to X-ertion to better represent what this group has evolved into. This group still serves to dance and appreciate popular Asian music, but we aim to dance and perform any Asian pop songs the members would like to learn.

X symbolizes the cross of diversity of our members. Regardless of background, level of dance experience, and genre interest, everybody is welcome to join and dance to Asian songs together. The word exertion was chosen to represent the hard work and effort we put into every dance.
