VJ SPOT

Known affectionately as "Spot," Patrick Epstein was the vision behind the visuals that heightened the First Av experience, not only at MF but throughout the week. Spot produced original video content independent of the music being played; it was, at the time, standard practice in many nightclubs to throw any old video on the screens just so the monitors that had become common would have something on them. That often meant unrelated images from music videos conflicting visually with music being played by a DJ or band. Not at First Avenue! Additionally, Spot was Prince's stand-in for both Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge; and he directed the video for Prince's Alphabet Street and three of his club concerts. Today, Spot produces documentaries, TV spots, corporate videos, music videos, EPKs, and independent features.
