Viktor Fiction

Viktor Fiction is the new band / alter ego of veteran production impresario Dave Trumfio the man behind the board for a vast group of artist that have included The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Rentals, Sia, Wilco, Grandaddy, My Morning Jacket, Ok Go, Mekons, Alternative TV and Built To Spill to only name a few.

Trumfio was also the frontman and songwriter for 90’s New Wave revivalist Pulsars who have reached cult status among many die hard Indie Electronic fans. Ira Robbins of the Trouser Press once wrote regarding Pulsars debut, “The album is one of the singular accomplishments of the 90’s– with it’s combination of indelible melodies and seemingly pre-mature bedroom vulnerability and obsessions, it’s a science fair version of Pet Sounds for the computer age.” Whether you agree or not Trumfio was way ahead of his time fighting a uphill battle against rap rock, spice girls and well the rest was history until now.

Viktor Fiction starts where Trumfio left off with Pulsars and fans will enjoy the similarities but Viktor Fiction is all together a different beast. For one, Trumfio has thrown away the wizard of oz like gadgetry of the Pulsars live shows and opted for the live band approach that he enjoys twitching, contorting and singing in front of. He’s left the tethers of the traditional guitar and button pushing for the gyrating antics of a proper frontman. It’s a new era indeed for the self proclaimed Riot Nrrrrd…

The band includes Trumfio’s long time production partner Celso A. Estrada (Islands, The Rentals, Beat Club, White Dove) on guitar/programs, drummer Michael Sanger (JUAREZ, Dead Western Plains, These Machines Are Winning) and electro clash darlings Soviet frontman and noted film composer Keith Ruggiero on synths.
