Troy Baker Sound

Troy Baker grew up between Jamaica, England, and the US, with music an integral part of his upbringing. His parents owned Gee Street Records, a music label in the '80s and '90s, as well as a recording studio in Jamaica at the family home now Geejam Resort.

Troy has since become an accomplished music producer and performer and has worked in different capacities with renowned artists such as, Action Bronson, Celo Green, Dave 'Switch' Taylor, Harry Stiles, Idris Elba, Kendrick Lamar, M.I.A, MNEK The Rolling Stones, Santigold, Skrellix, Wiley. Numerous Jamaican artists such as Agent Sasco aka Assasin, Ce’cile, Stylo G, Kraff, Skeng, Tommy Lee Sparta, Yaksta.

Troy's production sound infuses dancehall riddims with sounds from various genres, using the sonic quality of dub music to make them come alive. He has discovered a lot of local talent in the village of Drapers in Jamaica, spending weeks with them in the studio with them developing his sound.

In Jamaica Troy formed the music production duo Diztroy alongside Dale 'Dizzle' Virgo. The duo produced Agent Sasco’s classic track, "Banks of the Hope." Fusing Jamaican music with different musical genres and sounds, Diztroy has created a sound of their own.

Signed by Diary Record’s Dave ‘Switch’ Taylor, he collaborates with Dave on many of his various projects and productions. Upcoming projects are a global concept project “Wayward World “ and amongst other artists “TBS”.

In 2022/23 Troy collaborated with M.I.A, as a music producer co- producing the music for the tour and working with her on her visual delivery, and as her live DJ. Together they created “Babylon” which was released as an NFT, and MATALIFE, which featured in her recent album MATA.

He creates visuals for his own projects where alongside composing and recording, he creates visuals in tandem. His interest in dub and perfect sonic delivery led him to make his own sound system “Beat di System” hand-built in Los Angeles. He now creates sound systems for commission and as his own art form.
