thenewno2 (as in "the new No. 2," a line borrowed from TV's The Prisoner) is a London/Los Angeles based group led by singer/guitarist Dhani Harrison, Paul Hicks (keyboards/programming), Jonathan Sadoff (keyboards/guitar), Jeremy Faccone (guitar), Nick Fyffe (bass), and Frank Zummo (drums). Since its inception, Harrison has tirelessly expanded thenewno2 as an art collective. Along with designing all its own packaging and artwork, thenewno2 directs its own videos (including the wonderfully trippy “Another John Doe,” from their 2009 debut You Are Here). In addition, thenewno2 releases their music through H.O.T. Records Ltd., the self-helmed record label that allows the band to fulfill its ambition of operating wholly independently of the mainstream music industry.

The band released their second full-length album, thefearofmissingout. Employing a combination of live and programmed instruments and adding in obscure samples to create an intricate collage of electronica sounds, the sonic textures in thefearofmissingout were enhanced by Harrison as well as guest vocalists RZA, Ben Harper, The Black Knights, Thorunn Antonia (Fields, Beck’s Record Club) and Holly Marilyn (The Child). In-between albums Dhani Harrison formed Fistful of Mercy, a NPR top rated side project with Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur, Jon Sadoff composed two major motion pictures (Good Old Fashion Orgy, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World) and Paul Hicks won his 3rd Grammy in Sound Engineering.
