In their four years on the scene, The Word Party was known for their eclectic, energetic live show. Fueled by the teenaged madnesses of two songwriters: Luke Henry Darger and Nick Harrison Strot, the band delved into dad's basement, un-shelved some Talking Heads and Springsteen records and set off. Bassist Alex McCormick (Blue Ruin, Otis Apollo), Drummer Austin McLaughlin, Guitarist Sarah Mevissen and Keyboardist Grace Welch each brought their own perspective, and as their art grew, so did their friendship and camaraderie. Their two releases, So Sick Of, and No One Likes You, which echo the rock'n'roll from before they were born, represent frustration at finding oneself in the digitally wasted age. Anthems for the existential kids, elegies for the innocent and party music for the rest of us.
