For almost five years now The Tomatoes have been at the vanguard of the burgeoning New Orleans underground rock scene. While helping their hometown’s denizens fill mix tapes and play lists with three critically acclaimed albums (one of their songs was produced by none other than Soul Asylum frontman Dave Pirner), the indie-punk troubadours stand ready to transcend their next-big-thing status. Their messy, chaotic bursts of noise and melody bring to mind the approach and attitude of the country’s new neo-rock traditionalists: “An intoxicating shot of Americana that rivals the antics of indie outlaws the Hold Steady.” (offBEAT Magazine, 2008) The Tomatoes are currently compiling material for their 4th LP, with a release date set for spring 2010.
