THE REVENGE

Graeme Clark began producing in his early teenage years, making a skewed blend of electronic music using a couple of his dad’s old drum machines and a sampler. Influenced by his parents collection of rock, soul and funk aswell as eighties daytime radio and the burgeoning rave scene, he began the process of dissecting and re- imagining the music. After dipping his toe in the water of hardcore rave production as a kid, Graeme set up his first label (Five20East) with close friends Scott and Ross Langley in 1999 during his studies in sound engineering. An outlet for their own productions, the label was centered on the sounds of House through their ears, and aimed to provide a hub for their community of friends to record and release. It proved a baptism of fire with distributors going bust, shops failing to pay, lawyer's letters and all the other hallmarks of a fledgling label run by teenagers. But all was not lost as the struggle brought valued experience in the workings (and not-workings) of the music business for all involved.

During this time, Graeme began producing with two of Scotland's most respected underground DJ's who shone a light on the mysteries of arranging and programming for the dancefloor. Craig Smith (Edinburgh) and Harri (Glasgow) both had residencies in their respective cities, and had begun working with Graeme after hearing some of the Five20East releases on their record store rounds. Using Graeme's studio, sessions would stretch into the wee small hours, digging through dusty disco dubs and long forgotten funk jams to find the perfect groove. Graeme moved to Glasgow from his home town on the east coast in 2002 and started DJing more and more aswell as editing some of his favourite records to enhance his sets. He also began to play live with his friend Paul McGlashan in their electronic band, Deportivo Street Team, playing a fusion of house and techno. It was around this time that Graeme forged friendships with Ali Herron whom he would go on to work with as OOFT Music and Simon Murray (Deep Space Orchestra) whom he would work with as Cronk Family Enterprises.

Ready for a new challenge, L.E.S.S. Productions was formed by Graeme, Ali and Scott in 2007 as a way to collate some of the edits they had been working on for their DJ sets, and get them out in limited numbers to DJs who they had contact with. Pressing only 100 CDs for each release, the series began slowly, but quickly gained a cult following over the 10 editions and saw some of the first 6th Borough Project (Craig Smith & Graeme), OOFT Music and Cronk Family Enterprises material. The label also paved the way for Graeme's new vinyl label, Instruments Of Rapture, which went on to become a spiritual home for the majority of 6th Borough Project's output in 2008 / 09. Now producing for over 15 years, Graeme continues to put his fingers to work on a variety of projects in the studio aswell as touring as a DJ most weekends. Recent work has included music for DFA, Buzzin' Fly, Domino, Pokerflat, MCDE, Dessous and Silver Network as well as album productions for Delusions Of Grandeur and Z Records.
