The Owl-Eyes

The Owl-Eyes began as the solo-project of Ethan P. Teel, a multi-instrumentalist with a keen ear for good songwriting and rocknroll. At age 14, Ethan joined the Kansas City School of Rock House Band and opened for the likes of Heart, Jason Bonham, Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and countless others.

It was during this time Ethan recorded demo singles and released these singles through his YouTube page (with a handle of Themetalman3 at the time). These demo-singles caught the ears of a creative consultant, who connected Mr.Teel with Brett Vargason & Tom Micheal at Zodlounge records, whom helped re-record these singles and compiled them into The Owl-Eyes first EP, Wild Child.

Years later, Another EP, Schizo-Girlfriend, would be recorded in Kansas City, MO at Soundcave Studios independently. With this Ep being released in the fall of 2014, this was the last project to bear The Owl-Eyes name before a minor hiatus. Teel attended McNally Smith College of Music - obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Music business before the school’s untimely, and tragic closure.

Hallelujah Hysteria, the latest full-length debut LP by The Owl-Eyes, is a culmination of all the hard work and techniques developed during Ethan’s time at McNally Smith. The album was partly recorded in the McNally Smith studio spaces, with the singles recorded at Cloverleaf Audio in St. Paul, a vibrant local studio established by another McNally Alumni, Matthew Groso.

Currently, the Owl-Eyes is in the works of recording and writing new material to be compiled into a second LP (Title and release date TBA). Notable influences that can be heard through The Owl-Eyes music includes Talking Heads, System of a Down, Pink Floyd, Foo Fighters, and The Flaming Lips. The Owl-Eyes are always watching, we hope you're listening.
