In the beginning, The Ocho was a group of friends whose passion for playing music led them to join the Athens, GA music scene. After nearly two years of performing throughout the city, the band’s focus shifted towards songwriting and recording. Between their uniquely compelling vocals, vibrant soundscapes, and emotional storytelling, the five piece believed they had something special to offer music lovers.
In 2023, their debut EP Spring Without a Lover was met with unimaginable support. Tracks like "Wet Socks" and "Wasted in Athens" accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams while becoming increasingly popular throughout the local scenes. This early success helped build a growing number of followers who were enthusiastic about releases and live performances.
Momentum continued in 2024 with their second release, Float Across. Popular songs from the EP, like "French Bay Hotel" and "Heaven Heard," showed the versatility and direction of The Ocho as artists.
As the group (drummer Ashwin Gidwani, vocalist / keyboardist Garrett Seitz, guitarist Jonah Bergman, bassist Parker Foles, and guitarist Patrick Dries) looks forward to future projects, they’re enjoying getting to play for crowds across the country, connecting with fans, and evolving their craft. A lot has changed for The Ocho since forming under four years ago. However, they’re still just a collection of five friends who love playing music together.
