Longtime friends, and playing here and there throughout the 00’s, Kevin Hurley and Jarod Folkerts started playing music together in 2009 as “something to do now that Battlestar Galactica is over.” Inspired by numerous prog-rock and post-rock acts the likes of Explosions in the Sky, Russian Circles and Isis, Porcupine Tree and Starflyer 59, they ended up with a unique blend of instrumental rock that gets to the point. Growing up watching entirely too many David Lynch movies, they decided to call themselves The Great Went.
Releasing their first album, We’ve Met Before, in 2011, soon after they acquired the talents of drummer Brian Heitzman (formerly Self-Evident) and realized maybe they could put out some songs that are worth a damn. The trio is now set to release a new album recorded by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Recording in the summer of 2013.
