The Go Rounds are bits of all your favorite bands exploded into rock n roll confetti. Their unique brand of Psychedelic Americana Pop crosses, blends, and deconstructs genres; from indie to country to art-rock and baroque folk; creating an accessible and engaging experience that will leave you talking.
The Go Rounds have used Psychedelic Americana Pop, Twang-Rock & Jelly-Roll and [Increasingly Difficult to Describe] as placeholders intending to cast an umbrella over the sprawling landscape of their sound. Accents of Roy Orbison, Harry Nilsson and The Kinks filter through elements of Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Crazy Horse, Berlin-Bowie and 80s Brian Eno infused with a reverence for Emmy-Lou’s Wrecking Ball revival and an eye on the horizon for the blossom of yields to come.
Fingerpicked hollow body guitar makes space for slashing fuzz tones as down tempo, introspective ambiance opens into synth-led dance tracks. Spellbinding vocals weave lush textures through a field of deconstructed genres – a variegated sonic voyage – changing and returning like the seasons, flourishing and weathering the Beauty and the Fury. The result is an experience that is at once accessible, engaging, evocative and surprising– the comfort of a sedan and the exhilaration of driving fast on a loose gravel road.
The Kalamazoo, Michigan quartet has become an influential force within the Great Lakes music community over the last 8 years, releasing 4 LPs, 5 EPs and playing dozens of the region's bountiful music festivals. Starting in small concentric circles around Michigan, The Go Rounds have traversed the nation’s coasts, made the pilgrimage to Texas for South By Southwest, shook, rattled and rolled two-night stands in Toronto and established a tradition of touring to Mexico City with independent label support from their partners at Pedro Y El Lobo Records.
With a breadth of experiences reflecting that of their influences, they have amassed a resume including festivals such as Otis Mountain Get Down, SXSW, NuMuse Experimental Music Festival, Wheatland Music Festival, Camp Greensky, Green Music Fest Chicago, Blissfest, Mile of Music, Earthwork Harvest Gathering, Farmblock Fest, Founder’s Fest and Sinestesia Festival in Veracruz, Mexico to name a few.
A list of acts they have supported includes Greensky Bluegrass, Joshua Davis, Vulfpeck, Jeff Tweedy, Billy Strings, Caroline Rose, Mickey Hart, Keller Williams, Luke Winslow-King, Mike Gordon, Delicate Steve, Bruce Hornsby, Frontier Ruckus, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, Chris Bathgate, May Erlewine, Lucy Rose, Moon Taxi, Railroad Earth, Mandolin Orange and The Wood Brothers.
Their April 2018 EP release code includes three new compositions representing three pillars of the Go Rounds Sound. The title track "code" has brooding dark wave hues with hooky guitar arpeggios and a serpentine rhythmic pulse, a wildly distinctive textural piece book-ended by a psychedelic pop circus ride and a wistful Orbison-inspired waltz. Also added to the ep are four live recordings that point back to some of where The Go Rounds have been throughout the time elapsed since their last release, 2016's i promise i wont get hurt.
There are no signs of slowing down – a new full length album Whatever You May Be was released exclusively in Mexico on November 2, 2018 (with a US release forthcoming), and unrecorded music consistently filters into the live repertoire to accompany the band's extensive catalogue.
