The Blood Washed Band is a local alt-country supergroup and the house band at House of Mercy, led by Brother Quillan Roe. Inspired by old time country gospel songs and hymns, the band’s repertoire includes songs by the Carter Family, the Louvin Brothers, Gram Parsons, Johnny Cash and The Band.
The band is comprised of Brother Quillan Roe (Roe Family Singers, Accident Clearinghouse) on guitar and vocals, Bob Douglas (Powdermilk Biscuit Band, New Prairie Ramblers, the Tune Jerks) on mandolin and vocals, Jeremy Szopinski (House of Mercy Band, Urban Hillbilly Quartet) on electric guitar, Erik Brandt (Urban Hillbilly Quartet) on keys and accordion, Jonah Hacker (Broken Heartland String Band) on upright bass, Alissa Jacobsen (Thrift Store Sonata) on fiddle, and Levi Stugelmeyer (Charn) on drums.
Their debut album Drifting Along (House of Mercy Recordings MR030) is a collection of old country gospel hymns, new arrangements of songs by Brett Larson and Erik Brandt, as well as a handful of catchy originals. This album captures a previous line-up of the BWB with Professor Page Burkum (Cactus Blossoms) at the helm of the band.
