The Barstool Prophets

The Barstool Prophets were formed a couple of hundred weeks ago in the steaming hotbed of South Dakota specifically to bring life, love, laughter, and several other "l" words (mostly libations) to our people - which includes you!

You won't hear a group chasing the latest top 40 sound when you see The Barstool Prophets play, nor will you hear a band jumping genres to produce a flamboyant "party band" experience. What you will get from The Barstool Prophets is a passionate and electric concert from six members with years of dedication.

Formed loosely as 2015 came to an end, The Barstool Prophets were put together by five musicians who wanted to work up a better country band than their slice of the midwest had seen, and giving them a current voice in country. Drawing largely from Red Dirt and left of the dial influences, they formed a strong sound rooted in live performance garnering them the applause of rock, blues, and jam fans, as well as kids who spend most of their days in the cab of a tractor. After a couple of lineup changes, a few thousand miles, and some set changes that saw the addition of many original compositions, the group added fiddle player Todd Goehring and completed their sound in time to hole up in a turn-of-the-century gymnasium and record some of their songs.

The Barstool Prophets, while being a country band, clearly have many influences, collectively and individually. And it shows in their perfomances. Most of the members grew up travelling in punk and indie rock bands, blues and country bands, and odd side projects, always booking and managing the bands themselves. That DIY ethic still runs deep in the group.

If you want to see a hard working band equally at home playing four hour engagements several nights a week mixing originals with tunes by Hayes Carll, Turnpike Troubadours, Waylon and Shooter, Charlie Daniels and the like, as they are knocking out a ninety-minute opening slot filled with originals and intensity, Go See The Barstool Prophets!
