Hailing from Minneapolis, this indie/emo surf rock trio has been making waves in the midwest emo revival movement. Starting out in basements and small cramped rooms, The Aftergreens have made a name for themselves by performing anywhere and everywhere to angsty crowds needing some release.
With influences ranging from Death Cab for Cutie, The Vaccines, Modern Baseball, and The Beach Boys, the band's sound may be best described as "happy sounding sad music". Adam Baumann commands the crowd with strong vocals and lyrical themes held together by frantic guitar playing, grooving bass lines by Eric Wigham, and Jordan Narloch's driving drum beats.
In 2017 The Aftergreens self-released 2 EPs, starting with A Portion of an Empty Promise, that featured an acoustic sampling of what the band had to offer. Buzz surrounded the album and so they followed up shortly with another acoustic driven EP entitled I Can Hear My Light. "Killing Time" became a smash hit with audiences thanks to an infectious rhythm and lead kazoo part.
Following their EP releases, the band was excited and motivated to write a full length album. They spent much the rest of 2017 and 2018 writing new material which culminated in the release of A Little Sad... but Kinda Rad? in May of 2018. The band is currently working on their sophomore album.
