The core and founder of the "Lifted Roots" is Daniel Huonder. Since the break up of his former band "Just Add Water", Dan aka Spin had been searching for dedicated musicians.. It took a year of waiting until Spin realized that he needed to get this movement going himself. In the midst of a house party around January of 2011, Spin was approached by a producer who genuinely took interest in the acoustic set that he had played. This producer Tavarus aka "T", recorded Spin for 3 months until the lease was up on the studio. With unfinished tracks, and no contact from this producer for 7 months, Spin started to look to other options.

When Spin first took the studio with "T", he had recorded all of the guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and back ups for everything. The idea was to record, play shows, and give out demo cds, with intentions to find more musicians. A lot of time, and effort went into the process. After playing some acoustic shows, unsatisfactorily, Spin realized he needed a more full sound to astound the audience. In 2012, Spin linked up with King Fuvi, a successful underground rapper from NC, who had recently moved to MN.
King introduced a new producer, Eric from Shock and Audio, and a whole new style of Hip Hip. This is where the Reggae and Hip Hop really started to fuse together. While still taking time in the studio, Spin's EP is set to be out by the end of December in 2012. The concept of the "Lifted Roots", is to spread meaningful, positive, and obviously very catchy/addictive music. Whether it may be Reggae, Hip Hop, or acoustic, all of the lyrics have a deeper meaning, and positive message. The "Lifted Roots" is a movement of any artists that want to collaborate and spread that message, may it be art, music, or spoken word. The world of music needs change for the better, and Spin is trying to bring the change one day at a time.
