Speedboat Girls are an Indie-Punk band from Minneapolis. While at a March, 2010 Ted Leo gig at First Avenue, Tom Novak and Eric Fleming decided to form a band. They began practicing together and the two quickly realized that they had a strong chemistry. With several songs quickly taking shape, it became apparent that they needed to add a vocalist. Enter Tom's wife Elizabeth Novak. Over the summer of 2010, Speedboat girls wrote and recorded a four-song demo/EP titled, "Let's Get Married." Influenced in equal measures by punk, folk, pop, and guitar disco, Speedboat Girls have developed a unique sound. Elizabeth Novak's vocals range from Debbie Harry to Jack White, while the rhythm is set by Tom Novak on drums and bass. Eric Fleming's guitar evokes a young Paul Weller.
