For over two decades Southside Aces have brought the sounds of early jazz to the Twin Cities and beyond. They can boast of over a century of jazz in their book, up to their eighth and most recent album, Minneapolis Bump, which contains all fresh originals in the old style. Aside from a slew of Prohibition performances, highlights of their Jazz Age resume include the after party for the 2017 F. Scott Fitzgerald Society world conference, as well as for the past three years leading their own festival dedicated to 1920s and 30s music, "Jazz Age Rumpus." From the mysterious rhythms of the Cotton Club Duke Ellington, to the jazz Impressionism of Bix Beiderbecke, to the unbridled Chicago joys of a young Louis Armstrong, Southside Aces will turn the Turf Club into a West Egg outpost.
