SLF.

I grew up in Pine City MN. A place where it’s uncommon to become an artist. I was always writing and singing while I was younger but was too discouraged by the friction created by societal norms. That is, until I moved out to mankato. I remember making these terrible paychecks and trying to make rent. I had all of this angst I didn’t know what to do with so I made an impulse decision and spent the last 100 in my account on a microphone. I didn’t even understand why this pull/desire to create was so intense at the time but damn near 10,000 songs later (give or take a few), some dope opportunities and collaborations, it made a lot of sense. It made sense because throughout my years of creating I realized it was the peace I found through self expression. Throughout this self expression, I'd explore myself. It always felt like I'd find myself a little more with each song made, and along with each song I’ve made, the sensation of feeling grounded followed.

So yeah, I make a lot of different types of music. Sometimes i rap, sometimes i sing, sometimes it's hip hop and sometimes its rock, but whatever it is, it’s what I make in that very moment and it doesnt change the fact that music has saved me through low spots in life numerous times and the process of creation has taken the life it’s given me and has allowed it to blossom into something special. I go by SLF. And I love to create. I love music, and music has given me the ability to love myself. Self self self. But if you stumble across my music and call me “S L F”, S L F is smooth too.
