Sinai Vessel

Sinai Vessel is the project of Asheville, NC songwriter and musician Caleb Cordes. Begun in 2009 while Cordes was just a high schooler, the band has filled the past decade and a half with relentless coast-to-coast touring, cycling through dozens of collaborators, and pursuing an ever-evolving musical vision in tandem with Cordes' development as songwriter. Whether opening for Jimmy Eat World in their days as a soaring, cathartic emo band or supporting Pinegrove in their present folk-rock adaptation, Sinai Vessel has always managed to find an audience at each stage of their constant development. Their 2020 full-length outing Ground Aswim was labeled by Pitchfork as "one where each musical choice feels like the product of rigorous and unsparing consideration." Shaped by Texan producer Tommy Read (Lomelda) and mix engineer Bennett Littlejohn (Hovvdy), the record was a new foundation for Cordes, allowing him to recenter the project’s compositions around his compelling penchant for storytelling. Cordes built on this tradition in 2022 with LP4, DEMOS, a collection of worktapes for the project’s upcoming LP that saw him pairing his narratives with a focus on hook-centered immediacy.
