Silent-E

Born in Khartoum, Sudan, in 1991, Mahmoud “Moe” Ebrahim moved to Bloomington, MN at the age of four where he has spent most of his life. He was introduced to hip-hop at a very young age and began listening to Will Smith who initially became his favorite rap artist. Although he has always enjoyed many genres of music, hip-hop was always his favorite. Surrounded by people who were involved in making their own music, he was inspired to start freestyle rapping and sharing written lyrics with friends and family. He has been inspired by artists such as Nas, Eminem, and Mos Def to turn his hobby into something more serious which was the goal of pursuing hip-hop as a career. It has grown into his biggest passion.

It was not until his senior year of high school in Burnsville, MN, that he realized he needed to do more with his passion and talent. He started seeking recognition through displaying his rap skills in school to his peers and was given the nickname “Silent-E” by a close friend. Realizing that college was getting in the way of his goals, after a couple of years in it, he dropped out of college to further pursue his dream. In the summer of 2011, he recorded a mixtape titled Strictly Lyrical in a friend’s bedroom. After releasing the mixtape, he began to get more publicity and recognition. That is when Billions noticed his talent and contacted him about a record deal. By joining Billions and his label, East Bloc Records, Silent-E has finally found the key that he has been searching for to advance in the hip-hop scene. At twenty-one years old, he is very young and new to the hip-hop scene in Minnesota but has managed to reach milestones. He was featured on Billions’ album, A Secret Worth Billions, and is currently working on his own first album.
