Sasha Druva is a guitarist and vocalist from the Minneapolis music scene who took his music down to Nashville to form the current band, Sasha Druva and The Violet Rise, a mix of rock n' roll, blues, psychadelic pop and soul.
Born in Melbourne, Australia, Sasha Druva grew up moving from country to country and city to city. Continuously having to make new friends in each new place, Druva eventually found a constant companion with the guitar. At age 15, Druva recalls seeing footage of Led Zeppelin performing ‘The Song Remains the Same’ that would forever change the way he listened to music. “I remember being just blown away by the way Page played and the soulfulness of Plant’s voice. I can’t really put my finger on it, but something about that rock n’roll just got me.”
By age 18, Druva formed the band Stone Pages with former Mile One front man, Patrick Schmid. The band, heavily influenced by the likings of late 70’s rock n’ roll, released their first self-titled album in 2008 and continued to play together for a few years after. Although the band eventually split ways, Schmid remained a constant companion and major mentor for Druva.
In 2012, Druva moved to Nashville, TN to soak in some of the sounds of the south and explore the music of Tennessee’s music capital. It was here that the sound of Violet Rise began to develop. In 2013, Druva returned to Minneapolis to continue his musical career and formed the now three piece psychedelic rock n’ roll band with bassist Jacob Finney and drummer Kevin Weinreis. “I will always have the soul of the 70’s in me, but I also want to keep pushing my sound and create things that make people feel music again.”
