Ranoy Gordon

Born in the rural settings of St Mary in Jamaica, Ranoy Gordon was inspired to learn guitar from an early age. Growing up, there were always instruments around his home for him to play. By the age of 12, Ranoy began teaching himself to play guitar by practicing on his father’s instrument. Sounds of Ranoy’s father playing guitar and singing songs from artists such as Sam Cooke would guide his practice. During this time, Ranoy would listen to the local radio and play along with songs that were popular at the time. It wasn’t until Ranoy was 16 years old and entering into Edna Manley College that he began taking formal guitar lessons. As a gift, Ranoy’s father gave him a Yamaha Pacifica 112 guitar along with a small fender amplifier. While in college, Ranoy’s studies were inspired by musicians such as Ernest Ranglin, Santana, Eric Clapton, and John Mayer.

During his time at Edna Manley College, Ranoy was introduced to Stephen Marley through his hall mate who was currently playing keyboard in Stephen Marley's band. The first audition lead to a rehearsal the next day which later lead to his first tour with Stephen in 2007. Ranoy has been touring with him ever since and in 2012, he also began touring with Damian Marley. His musical collaborations over the years include artistes and producers such as Clive Hunt, Jah Cure, Busy Signal, Tarrus Riley, Beres Hammond, Sanchez, Etana, Morgan Heritage, Andrew Tosh, and many more. Ranoy has worked on both grammy nominated and grammy winning albums including Stephen Marley's Mind Control Acoustic and Revelation Part 1 The Root of Life, Jah Cure's The Cure, and Morgan Heritage's album Strictly Roots.

After years of working alongside fellow musicians, the time has come for Ranoy to release his first song titled “Best Friend”. The song was written and produced by him at a time when he was reflecting on a past love experience. His music tends to reflect his life experiences and he uses music as a window to vividly express himself. Ranoy’s vision for his music career is simply to play music from the heart, never driven by money. He hopes to reach all corners of the world with his music and to express himself through multiple instruments and genres.
