PRINCETON BROWN

Well before embarking upon his Mechanical Engineering studies at Augsburg College, Princeton set out upon his musical journey. He started piano and drum lessons when he was four years old, and developed his habit of humming melodies throughout his day. Writing poetry in second grade, together with creating beats in middle school were two skills Princeton sought to combine at South High School, an effective method of creating his first original songs.

Thus leaving his musical footprint upon the South High music program. He played in the Jazz band, school bands and orchestra in middle and high school, as well as contributing to his neighborhood church band. Princeton credits his parents for his deep love of music: “My father was a well known Reggae DJ and my mother played piano and has a passion for the fine arts. My parents always remind me that when I was younger I would say that I want one of everything that makes music!” An early experience in Princeton’s musical life was when during one of many trips to Jamaica, local artists would record over his original beats.

Following the sessions in Jamaica, Princeton’s parents encouraged him to start singing over his own beats. Princeton’s sister, Symone, also a talented musician, works closely with Princeton to define his sound. A true Minneapolis family affair!
