Phillip Saint John is a healer, experimental hip-hop, and dynamic soul singing artist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and ¼ of the hip-hop collective PACT.
For nearly a decade he has sharpened his focus as a lyrically honest, uplifting, and conscious musician. Playing off light and dark to embody a complete self he takes users from the depths to the surface and back again. From his first two EPs, Empower and The Sound, all the way to Sun Indigo and his latest release, Divine Wisdom, Saint John has only taken more risks on top of polishing his craft as a multi-talented soul-singer and rapper.
Over the past two years, Phillip has been a finalist at the state fair talent contest, for the Campbells jingle contest, released a handful of music videos I.E., ‘Where We At Now’ ‘Sun Indigo’ ‘Breathe’, has raised $2000 for local businesses during the first year of covid, has had multiple tracks spun on 89.3 The Current’s local segments, and performed four songs on Kare 11’s Sunrisers program. Phillip has worked with his group PACT along with poetry groups, jazz bands, comedians, and more in order to enhance performances through eclectic and refreshing collaborations.
On Phillip Saint John’s newest album Divine Wisdom, featuring the singles ‘The Morning’ & ‘Blue’, you’re taken through a day with the artist on a journey of living your authentic and inspired life, back to his (and your own) childhood trauma in order to heal and empower, to more difficult topics of nuance such as struggling as an artist, creating characters that friends have to project onto you in order to take back your power, and accepting where you’ve objectively ended up in life thus far. These topics are backed by tasty guitar licks, smooth and full instrumentation, and at times intense or psychedelic strokes to simulate the feeling of being forced to grow as an individual.
Along with his producer Jason Faye, Phillip shines in his role as an executive producer, and literal producer on his own album by through composing and even hiring international artists to help complete his original vision I.E., ‘Theme Song’, ‘We Will Rise’, ‘Take Me As I Am’. As he moves forward a healed man and artist, he promises to deliver more dynamic performances with live bands along with even more polished, forward-thinking concepts.
Through community empowerment, energy healing, and music Phillip has dedicated his life to elevating family, friends, and strangers alike. To chase their dreams and express themselves as authentically as possible and enjoy the diverse aspects of their own personalities by choosing to nurture new seeds to fruition to heal their inner child with the artist himself.
