Marrying the timeless power of a good song with an eye to the future, Panama are winning hearts with their trademark anthemic electronic music. A classically trained pianist from the age of six, frontman and songwriter, Jarrah McCleary recorded the band’s It’s Not Over and Always EP’s in Los Angeles with producer Eric Broucek (Holy Ghost!, Classixx, !!!, Hercules and Love Affair).
Signing to Future Classic (Flume, Jagwar Ma, Chet Faker, Flight Facilities) It’s Not Over was released to glowing reviews. The title track hit #1 on the Hype Machine charts, with 3 of the 6 tracks on the EP added to rotation on Australian national youth broadcaster Triple J. Third single 'We Have Love' was Triple J’s ninth most played track of 2013, beating out the likes of Lorde. The release of the Always EP again saw Panama top the Hype Machine charts again and, as at writing, the title track has close to 1.4 million Soundcloud plays. Always is widening their international radio play with support from BBC Radio 1 and 2 in the UK and a spot in Triple J’s iconic and publicly voted Hottest 100.
Panama’s three-piece live show debuted at Field Day festival in Sydney on New Years Day 2014 performing alongside Solange and London Grammar. They followed with a sold out a string of shows around Australia and headed to SXSW in March for their debut US performances. The band are building a formidable team around them. They kicked off 2014 by announcing their label signing with 300 Entertainment (the new record label of ex Warner CEO Lyor Cohen) for North America, joining Billion’s founder and president David “Boche” Viecelli & Josh Lindgren’s booking roster for North America and signing with Greg Lowe (The Knife, Cold War Kids) and Mark Bennett at The Agency Group in London for European booking.
