North Innsbruck’s music is found within the obscure space between DarkSynth, Post-Punk, and Cinematic Retrowave. Since the release of their award winning debut album A Delicate Balance in 2020, and the provocative aural experience of Mindbender years later, Minnesota based artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Chris Emblom (along with guitarist/singer Greg Online and visual artist Nick Jones) have grown to become an increasingly recognized name in Minnesota music. Boldly fierce and more haunting than the Synthwave they’re paired with, North Innsbruck delivers a visionary digital horror show, driving listeners to the cusp of madness.
North Innsbruck is about to return with their third and most nightmarish album to date, Ritual. A record comprised of brooding bass lines and screaming leads, Ritual reflects the macabre and grizzly corners of a world plagued with political and religious infringements.
“Ritual explores the intersection of corruption and power, reimagining the sinister influence charismatic leaders can have over individuals, tearing apart families and splintering communities”, says Emblom. “We live in a frightening reality where religious zealots and corrupt politicians are using lies, desperation, and fear as tools of division to leverage the pursuit of power.”
