Minor Moon

Minor Moon is the songwriting project of Sam Cantor, a musician based in Chicago, IL. Minor Moon's debut LP, A Whisper, A Shout, is a lush and dynamic meditation on beauty, disgust, ambiguity, and affirmation. Featuring elements of rock, folk, jazz, and soul, Minor Moon's sound evokes a wide range of influences: from Van Morrison to Jeff Buckley, from Gillian Welch to Grizzly Bear.

Beyond his work with Minor Moon, Sam has played and sung with a number of bands and vocal ensembles, performing around the United States and internationally. Sam currently contributes to other musical projects including Brooklyn-based band Horse Teeth and Chicago's Signal-to-Noise. He teaches at The Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago.

Minor Moon would not be possible without the many musicians who have performed, shaped, and inspired this music. The band features Sam Cantor on vocals and guitar, Nathan Bojko on drums, Michael Downing on bass and vocals, and Colin Drozdoff on keys. Other past and presently associated musicians include Dan Knishkowy, Andrew Stocker, Jay Hosking, Eric Derwallis, and Nick Rawson.
