midori jaeger (solo)

midori jaeger is a cellist, singer, and composer originally from Japan. She writes emotive songs from the cello. Her music has been championed by The New York Times, BBC Radio 3, BBC 6 Music, KEXP, CLASH and Line of Best Fit.

This year she releases (Un/Re)planted, an EP written at the cello depicting uprootedness and mixed cultural identity. The cello itself is an instrument that was once a living tree plucked from the earth. In parallel, the songs express midori's own journey as a child growing up in multiple continents, uprooted and forced to build roots on different soils.

midori is a globally in-demand collaborative multi-instrumentalist, including recent live performances with Imogen Heap, Jessie Ware, Courtney Pine, Patrick Watson, Daughter, Tanita Tikaram, Shards and Christian Löffler.

midori composes and records for film, dance and theatre.
