Meg McRee

After attending Vanderbilt University on a full academic scholarship, Meg McRee traded her newly earned degree for the pursuit of an unpredictable dream as a songwriter. After a few years of waitressing at The Listening Room and nannying in between co-writes, McRee was validated as more than a driven idealist with the signing of her first publishing deal at Hang Your Hat, a creative joint venture with Concord Music Publishing and hit-songwriter Hillary Lindsey. Since, her musical prowess has earned her cuts with Grace Potter, Elle King, Caylee Hammack, Paul Cauthen, Carter Faith, Ben Chapman, Lauren Watkins, Harper O’Neill, and more.

As she proved her chops in the writing room, McRee toured singing background vocals and playing fiddle with Ben Chapman and Hailey Whitters before making the leap into her own artistic journey with the recording and release of her debut record, Is It Just Me?, an album founded upon pleasantly unpredictable melodies, inquisition, and warm-hearted poetry that will make your feelings make sense.

“I hope when people hear my record, they feel like they’re getting to step inside my brain for a little while,” said McRee. “I have a very wide variety of sonic influences (from the Dead to Emmylou Harris to Tame Impala) so there was plenty of fun, challenging exploration going on throughout the making of this project. The songs are about the way I look at the world, at least right now. I’m in love but I’ve had my heart broken before I’m wading through all the chaos of my career path and the lifestyle it lends itself to, with one foot on the moon and the other on solid ground…”

With nearly 1M streams McRee’s debut record is feeling the love across genres - debuting at #49 on iTunes Country chart and landing on a variety of country, americana, singer-songwriter, and multi-genre playlists across platforms, with stand-out track “Mary Jane & Chardonnay” making its radio debut on SiriusXM The Highway’s On The Horizon upon release. After wrapping her first major tour in early 2023 as support for co-writer Lainey Wilson on the “Country With a Flare Tour”, Meg hit the road with Morgan Wade on select dates of her “No Signs of Slowing Down Tour”, including a show at the legendary Ryman where McRee received a standing ovation for her first set on the coveted stage. You can catch McRee this summer at festivals including CMA Fest, Bonnaroo, and Peacemaker, as well as support on select dates with Ashley McBryde, Paul Cauthen, and Marcus King.
