MARSHALL LARADA

MK Larada is like the Doomtree’s sommelier. His tastes are refined. His standards are inflexible. In short, he’s hard to please. As such, he’s been the perfect member of the collective to serve as an executive producer, particularly for our collaborative efforts. As a beatmaker, he’s a vinyl purist, one of the group’s most meticulous producers. His down-tempo beats are nuanced, patient, beautiful. His bangers are big drums, contagious melodies, and breaks in just the right places.

As a graphic artist, MK has built the Doomtree brand from the floor up. He and Paper Tiger work in tandem to make Doomtree’s visual presence as striking as our music. He designed our logo, wings and teeth, from his own ex-rays. For the fourth Blowout, he used saws, knives, and plaster casts to build a version of the same design with a wingspan of over 6 feet. Under his direction, it was suspended from the ceiling at First Avenue to unfold over the audience during the Doomtree set. So after all of this careful, unforgiving work how does MK Larada unwind? He makes the funkiest soundtracks for breakdancers this side of ‘88. No joke. He’s practically a saint in break circles. If you’re uprock, you’re down with MK.
