Imagine yourself sitting beneath a mountain on a warm summer’s day.The sunshine plays across your face gently; the entire world makes sense. The most beautiful person you’ve ever laid eyes upon happens to cross your path. Without provocation, she relentlessly kicks you. It stings. It hurts. You yelp in pain. But eventually the pain recedes; your muscles slack and the sunshine comes back. That is the sound of Lilian & the Harveys.

Lilian & the Harveys had humble beginnings as a loose collection of melancholic songs recorded shortly after singer/guitarist Kyle Werstein moved to the heartland of Wisconsin from his native Germany in 2009. After moving to the Twin Cities to attend school, he began collaborating with drummer Jeff Hauck to play live shows throughout the scene. Throughout this time their energetic live performances rang quietly through the scene, with rumblings from blogs and local radio to push them along. Recently they added two new Harveys to the fray: bassist Andrew Colston and local veteran Tate Schoeberlein. Their music is loud, bittersweet and dangerous, taking influence from varied sources like Dinosaur Jr, Band of Horses, Built to Spill, Yo La Tengo, and Grandaddy.
