Lake Davi is an Americana band local to Minneapolis. Their sound is hook driven and pays homage to classic country, '60s pop, indie rock, and melancholic women everywhere. Lake Davi describes itself as 'alt country for midwestern lesbians,' and the proof is in the lyrics. Singer/songwriter, Andy Goelzer, scatters local references amongst carefully constructed scenes of love and heartbreak in a community that can feel a lot like a small town.
The band's members hail from all over the country, both urban and rural, each with their own relationship to country music. Lead guitarist and pedal steel player, Adam Moskowitz, learned to play guitar to country hits, then spent years playing punk and experimental music in DC. Adam brought in Alex Griffin (guitar and banjo), who has a background in folk and old-time. On bass and drums respectively, Stella Drapkin and Ren Berglove both come from a pop background and are actually cousins - which officially makes Lake Davi a family band! The band has spent the past few years cutting their teeth playing dive bars and local fundraisers, and released their debut EP, Inevitable, in the spring of 2023.
Their debut album, Bloody Mary, was self-released in December 2025. The record was inspired by the dive bars of Minneapolis and is full of vignettes of nights out in the Twin Cities - first dates, drunken jealousy, juke boxes full of the classics, and the painful hangovers the morning after.
