Kilo Kish has been a generously hyped artist this year. She is pushing the boundaries not just as a musician but as an artist in general. The moniker Kilo Kish stems from her birth name, Lakisha Robinson. Growing up in Orlando, she moved to NYC to study fashion. Spoilt for choice as to which pronoun to address her by, she is a vovalist, songwriter, painter and designer. However the term “artist” feels the most suitable.
At just 26 years old Lakisha is in a league of her own. With everything she does she is breaking new ground. i-D have even named her “the voice of millennial discontent and discovery”. Whether it be writing songs or recording readings and poems, Kilo Kish is incredibly raw and honest. After 3 EP's and collaborations with Vince Staples, Chet Faker, SBTRKT, Donald Glover and The Internet, Kilo Kish has released her debut album, Reflections in Real Time. The album has seen her play Raury’s, ‘Raur Fest’ and support Santigold on her ‘We Buy Gold’ tour.
There really is nobody else doing it the way Kilo Kish is right now. The way she combines all her artistic skills into one makes her super influential. Playing shows in Australia all week you can catch her in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Before then, stream her album below and let her blow you away.
