Joey Jay is the stage name of Joesph, a fabulously bitchy drag artist, who is based in Phoenix, Arizona. She is best known for appearing on Season 13 of the reality TV show, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and for being the first gay person to ever be on Drag Race! This was an inside joke of season 13 due to the amount of times Joey said the word, “gay.”
Born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, Joseph began competing in male talent pageants before starting drag as Joey Jay. While working at a software company during the day, he began performing drag once a week in the evenings. She competed at Mrs. Gay USofA 2018, and was a Top 12 finalist. Then in 2020, after auditioned twice before, she was cast on her third attempt for Season 13 of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
