JAMAL (Commercial Suicide, Project 51-SF)

With global affiliations including Commercial Suicide (Klute), Code Recordings (Bachelors of Science), Project 51 (Gridlok), JAMAL is a name synonymous with drum & bass in San Francisco and beyond. Over a decade in the game has made him a cornerstone of the stateside drum & bass movement. From DJing around the world and producing memorable music, to throwing parties and establishing infamous crews like Compression SF and Stamina Sundays, Jamal continues to leave an indelible mark on the genre.

Jamal began honing his skills behind the decks in the late 90's, quickly becoming a crowd favorite in the burgeoning San Francisco DnB scene. Then only 19 years old, Jamal found himself rubbing shoulders with the drum & bass pioneers and future innovators. At the same time, Jamal was holding down simultaneous residencies with infamous crews like Compression and Phuturo, Juju’s label night - a position which exposed him to the most cutting edge artists and sounds. He's had his finger on the pulse of drum & bass music ever since.

Jamal delivers an undeniably infectious energy with each of his sets - a quality which has kept him in demand for years. Teeming with exclusive tunes and mixed with a level of finesse only achievable by a veteran, Jamal's DJ sets never fail to send dancefloors into a frenzy. This hard-earned reputation has seen him share the stage with drum & bass' finest including Andy C, Roni Size, Goldie, Calyx & Teebee, DJ SS, S.P.Y., Bryan Gee, Marky, LTJ Bukem, Friction, Dillinja...you get the idea.

In the studio, Jamal has been making moves for years. The last 2 in particular have proven to be among the biggest yet, collaborating with drum & bass luminaries Gridlok ("Tusken Raider" - Commercial Suicide Records, 2012), and the Bachelors of Science ("Never Die" w/ BoS, Ben Soundscape, and Jo-S - Code Recordings, 2013), not to mention solo releases. With numerous singles slated for release and new collaboration projects in the works, it's clear JAMAL will continue to shape the drum & bass sound for years to come.
