Jake Rose was raised on a pumpkin farm just west of the Twin Cities in Hamel, Minnesota. His father Steve, and uncle Bob, farmed together with his grandfather, Hunk. Bob and Steve had a southern rock band called "Stampede" who played upwards of 5 nights a week along with farming full time. This is where Jake's musical life began at a young age.
He watched his dad play old southern rock classics from the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, Allman Brothers, Molly Hatchet, Bob Seger, and many others. The "Rose" comes from Jake's little sister Jocelyn Rose who tragically passed away. He decided to use her middle name to honor her and her legacy. Rose previously founded the rock band New Medicine who charted a top 15 Billboard hit with "Race You To The Bottom" and played over 400 shows around the US and Canada.
Jake has been living in Nashville since 2012 penning songs for other artists such as Meatloaf, Colt Ford, Keith Urban, Sleeping with Sirens, and many others. He started working on the Jake Rose solo project about a year ago when teaming up with long time collaborator and producer Kevin Kadish along with Taylor Swift producer Nathan Chapman at their new company: Starts With Music. The first release "Sleeves" was featured on Spotify's New Boots playlist, along with being played on Sirius XM The Highway "On The Horizon". Jake to release a full EP in 2018!
