Impaler is a Shock Rock band formed in 1983 in St. Paul, Minnesota, and influenced by bands like Alice Cooper Group, KISS, and a healthy dose of '70s Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Visual pop culture like pro wrestling and comic books also played a big part in Impaler’s genetic makeup.
The band will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2023, and reissues of their first two releases on vinyl are just one part of a year-long celebration. Also, in January 2019, Impaler received a Metty Award for Lifetime Achievement in Heavy Metal Music for the state of Minnesota.
Impaler has released albums worldwide on Combat Records, Roadrunner Records (Europe), Century Media, and several others. They have been featured in numerous heavy metal publications, radio shows, and television appearances on Twin Cities Live, KARE 11 Mornings, and an episode of Minnesota Original on TBS.
With founding members Bill Lindsey (vocals) and Commander Court Hawley (bass), Impaler puts on a spectacular theatrical show which features fake blood, cages, coffins, latex severed heads, and a finale that includes a mock disemboweling of victims. Much to the displeasure of Tipper Gore’s PMRC and record-burning ministers The Peters Brothers. (Some people have no sense of rock and roll theatre!)
A show you will never forget! Impaler is Halloween at the speed of sound.
