I Speak Machine are vocalist and synth-nerd Tara Busch and filmmaker Maf Lewis. Together, they make brooding soundtracks and horror/sci-fi films, creating audio and visual in unison to give both elements equal prominence. The result is a “live score film”, where all screenings of the film are accompanied by Tara perfoming the score live.
They released their first soundtrack, the score to their mind bending sci-fi short The Silence in 2014 on Lex Records. They released their latest soundtrack to their short film Zombies 1985 in May of 2017 in collaboration with producer / writer Benge (Wrangler, John Foxx). The soundtrack & film is a sinister, synth-centric love letter to 1980s horror.
I Speak Machine toured the US & UK in 2016 with Gary Numan, and was part of the TROIKA! tour (a triple bill with Kite Base & Hannah Peel). New projects on the horizon include the groundbreaking sci-fi horror animated series STRATA with illustrator / writer / director Tommy Lee Edwards. Also recently announced is Tara’s upcoming I Speak Machine album WAR - a sonic dive into the harrowing trenches of mental illness and one’s internal struggle to navigate their way to sanity & peace.
