Hunx and His Punx have created a unique new sound they refer to as "Young Oldies," a mixture of 50s teenage rock ‘n’ roll, 60s girl groups and bubblegum pop. Hunx is that boy you just wanna kiss—maybe after sharing a triple scoop ice cream cone, then roller skating with the Shangri-Las and Redd Kross rotating on a never-ending loop. He’s the boy in that picture from your high school yearbook—the one you pasted sparkly red heart stickers all over, then taped inside your locker. He’s the boy you fantasize about because he always saves you from your broken heart. You’ve never met him—but you love him… because you know he believes in love.

Hairdresser Blues (out February 28, 2012) is the first solo record from front man Hunx, and features all Hunx, all the time (minus drums, played by Daniel Pitout). Listen in as Hunx sings on about love, hairspray, and rollers, all backed by contagious pop melodies with streaks of glam, garage, and the Dunedin Sound in its hair. "Somebody once described my music as "Hairdresser Pop," notes Seth Bogart aka Hunx. "I don't know what that means. I don't know what that sounds like. I do know that it seems appropriate in describing the sound of this record. Whenever I write Hunx and His Punx songs, I have to imagine putting on a show to them. People want to see me go crazy, and sometimes it's hard to sing about something really sad when I'm wasted in a wig and makeup and screaming my head off on stage trying to dazzle people. A lot of this album deals with topics I don't usually write about. I wasn't concerned with entertaining people with these songs. I just wanted to get them out of me."
Joining Hunx on tour as His Punx will be Justin Champlin (aka NOBUNNY) on guitar, Shannon Shaw (Shannon & The Clams) on bass, and Erin Emslie on drums.
