Horsepower

Charlotte Weinman is a lot of things — a playwright, a sister, a self-proclaimed former horse girl. She’s also the artist behind Horsepower, a New York-based project that combines the fervent energy of indie rock with the thespian flair of a born performer.

Throughout 2024, the band made waves in their native Brooklyn for selling out multiple local shows despite having no music out. When Horsepower released their debut EP in June 2025, their cultlike following quietly went national. The band earned a place in Spotify’s Fresh Finds Class of 2025, a spot in the 2026 NME 100, and support slots alongside Hinds, Daffo, Liz Cooper, Cece Coakley, Jessica Lea Mayfield, and more.

Weinman’s powerful vocals bespeak her background in performance, oscillating between girlish charm and nearly operatic intensity thanks to a scattering of influences ranging from Sleater Kinney to Mitski. On the production side, Horsepower’s music owes much of its lush, crisp sound to the deft work of Charlotte’s brother Noah Weinman (Gigi Perez, Skullcrusher, Odie Leigh). Lyrics draw on Weinman’s background in playwriting, telling stories that are equal parts vulnerable and erudite.

Horsepower’s second EP, Happiest Day of My Life, is due out November 20, 2026.
