Adam Levy was abducted in the early morning hours on June 23, 1998. After purchasing a post-gig egg salad deli roll from the S.A. on Lyndale & 22nd Ave, hominid beings of an unknown origin threw him into the back of a ’76 El Camino, and drove him to the Menards on 394, where their ship was hidden.
Once aboard the craft, Adam was stripped naked and forced to explain the origins of American popular song to their Cultural Minister, Vortek Oon Guabbious. XXVII. Afterwards, Adam was made to sing the duet “Up Where We Belong” with Vortek, while the whole crew watched. As a result of this traumatic experience, Adam formed the band ‘Hookers & Blow’ as a means of reclaiming the rich legacy of America popular song, a legacy that had become tainted in his mind; soiled by an unwelcome probe administered by soulless, hairless, tone deaf beings.
While Hookers & Blow started as a pitiful cry for help, the weekly therapy session at Gluek’s gradually gained momentum, eventually evolving into the full-fledged howl of resistance, strength, and self-wellness management that resonates today.
