Holychild

If music were a cocktail party filled with sweets, thought-provoking conversations and energy, then Holychild would be those hosts. With the sound of heads thrown back in laughter and smiles from guests that ricochet off chandeliers, Holychild is hell-bent on having piercingly honest conversations through their music.

The LA-based duo found early success in 2013 through “Happy With Me,” a fierce challenge to media images that received more than 100,000 plays in just one week and placing #1 on Hype Machine’s Popular Charts. The band continues to receive local and national support, with Nylon Magazine describing the track as “mind-blowingly addictive,” Billboard grouping them in their annual “14 artists to watch in 2014”, and LA Weekly naming Holychild “one of the ten LA bands who are going to blow up in 2014.”

Having met at George Washington University in D.C. where Louie Diller was the musical accompanist for Liz Nistico’s modern dance class, the two were magnetically drawn to each other’s creativity and ability to recognize the power music holds. Forming Holychild and moving to L.A. after graduation, the two started crafting music that subtly challenges the listener to think about life while using breathlessly enigmatic arrangements that are intertwined with a carefree sincerity heard in Liz Nistico’s vocals. With the buzz garnered from “Happy With Me,” the duo steamed through their CMJ performances, catching the attention of the renowned label Glassnote Records, which they now call home.

Produced by Louie Diller, Holychild’s debut EP, Mind Speak, was released in March 2014 through Glassnote, accompanied by a short film directed by lead singer Liz Nistico. Using pop-rock as a vehicle to connect with a broad range of people, this EP is the jump-off point for their plan to better the world, illuminating a connection that leaves their listeners feeling whole and wanting more.
